Help people get the best from you.

We all have a manual in our head for how we work. Almost no one writes it down. teamread.me builds yours and helps you share it with others.

Answer a few quick questions to get a short, shareable profile of your strengths, work style, and preferences, so the people around you know what you bring to the table and how to collaborate with you.

Team alignment, faster

Your strengths only land when people know how you work.

The people around you piece together how you operate from a handful of moments, and fill the rest with guesswork. They adapt by trial and error over months, meaning some of what you do best never gets used simply because no one knew to ask.

teamread.me puts what energises you, how you communicate, and how you do your best work on a single page. Your team instantly sees what you bring, and everything speeds up.

The Eight Styles

Which one are you?

Your answers place you on a wheel of eight working styles, mapped across two fundamental axes.1How you reach a shared page. Do you Confirm before moving, or Assume and adapt in motion?2How you handle a gap. Do you Surface the truth, or Smooth the tension?

The Leveller
SurfaceSays what everyone is thinking and no one is saying.
The Clarifier
Confirm + SurfacePins down what things mean, and checks that it holds.
The Anchor
ConfirmMakes the shared page explicit and keeps it steady.
The Convener
Confirm + SmoothGets everyone aligned without bruising the room.
The Harmoniser
SmoothKeeps the team together and the work moving.
The Connector
Assume + SmoothBuilds momentum and keeps the room warm.
The Pathfinder
AssumeStarts before it's fully mapped, learning the way in motion.
The Catalyst
Assume + SurfaceMoves fast and names the hard thing early.
How it works

Minutes to your read-me.

A short set of quick questions, rated on one simple scale. There is no right answer, and nothing to prepare.

  1. 1
    Answer honestly
A few quick questions about how you work, then the five strengths you would claim and how you like to work.
  2. 2
    Get your read-me
Your archetype, your strengths, your working preferences, and a first draft of your read-me in your own words. Free, and yours to edit.
  3. 3
    Invite the people around you
A few colleagues name the five strengths they actually see and add a line each. Anyone short of time can pick five and stop, which takes ten seconds. The gap between the two readings is where the surprises sit.

The evidence

A shared working style makes teams work better.

Teams work best when people understand how each other operate. The idea of a short user manual for working with someone, popularised by Adam Bryant in the New York Times, spread through teams because it makes the implicit explicit: people can work with the real you from the start, instead of guessing for months.

There is a second benefit underneath it. How we come across is rarely how we think, and work on self-awareness finds a stubborn gap between our own view and how others experience us. A shared read-me gives you a way to see that gap and close it.

teamread.me puts a structure under both. It places you on a simple map of how you work, gives you a read-me you can hand to anyone, and, on the paid tiers, sets your own view against the people around you.

Questions people ask

The things worth knowing before you start.

Is it free?

Yes. Everything you say about yourself is free: your archetype, your strengths, your working preferences and your read-me. What your colleagues say about you sits on the paid tiers.

How long does it take?

A few minutes. It is a short set of quick questions with no right answer and nothing to prepare.

Who sees my answers?

Your read-me is yours. Colleague answers are confidential, pooled, and never shown on their own. You choose what to share.

What if I do not fit one type?

Plenty of people sit near the centre of the wheel. When you do, we show the nearest style and the one next to it, so it stays honest.

Can the whole team do it?

Yes. On the team tier everyone gets their own read-me, pooled into one map of how you fit together. It also includes a coach debrief: a one-to-one for you as the leader, to talk the team through.

What happens to my data?

It stays yours, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time. How answers are handled is set out in our privacy notice.
